The Academy at Classical Weekend

Sheffield Music Academy's talented young musicians recently performed to the general public across an entire weekend of classical music. The event was organised by Classical Sheffield, and featured a number of classical music groups in venues throughout the city centre. The Academy started the weekend performing Antonio Vivaldi’s 'Four Seasons' in Upper Chapel. The performance was led by The Academy's music director, Martin Cropper.

The talented young singers in the junior choir performed in the Winter Gardens, drawing crowds enjoying the music and sunshine. The choir represented The Academy as part of 'pop-up' performances occurring throughout the city. The final day featured the Academy orchestra performing in Sheffield City Hall Ballroom, featuring numerous pieces including Dvorak's Slavonic Dances, conducted by Keith Slade. The weekend culminated at Yellow Arch Studios with a performance of The Appalachian Spring.
