Sheffield Music Academy is an established, successful music education charity that, since 2005, has nurtured hundreds of brilliant young musicians aged 4-19, from all backgrounds. As one of only 14 Music Centres for Advanced Training in the UK, we support some of the most exciting music educators from across the country to work with and inspire young people from the Sheffield region and beyond.

We are seeking new board members at an exciting time to help fulfil our goals and potential.

Recent developments in Harmony Works make Sheffield’s musical ecosystem an exciting community of optimism and ambition. As the city’s music environment adapts, we are excited to develop our organisation to further engage, support and nurture diverse and passionate young people. We are currently developing our 5 year strategy which will form the basis of our plans for adapting to work in, and ultimately moving to, Harmony Works.

We welcome all applications and are particularly interested welcoming people with the following skills and experiences:

  • Those with a senior level of Safeguarding experience who would be interested in acting as a Safeguarding trustee

  • Those who would be interested in being Chair of the Board later in their tenure

  • Those with a passion for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Trustees are appointed for an initial period of 2 years, extendable to 4. They can then be reappointed, with 8 years usually being the maximum term.
