As an alumna of SMA and CSYO, Katie is thrilled to return to Sheffield’s vibrant music scene. Since leaving SMA, she completed an undergraduate degree in Music at King’s College London, where she also studied violin with teachers from the Royal Academy of Music.

 

During her studies, Katie acted as Producer for a performance of Bach’s Coffee Cantata and served as Orchestra Manager for the King’s College London Symphony Orchestra. A particular highlight of this role was driving a percussion van to the South of France for the orchestra’s international tour!

Katie’s passion for youth music-making is reflected in her dissertation, which explored Sheffield’s diverse musical organisations and examined the positive impact of music on young people.

​

In 2024, Katie rejoined the SMA team (in a different capacity!) and has loved combining her enthusiasm for the organisation with her connection to the city. Her role as SMA Administrator has been especially rewarding, allowing her to find new ways to support the SMA community.

​

She is delighted to continue supporting SMA in her current role as Academy Manager.
