
Josh Hall
Oboe
Josh Hall is a freelance oboist based in Liverpool having graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music under the tutelage of Jonathan Small & Jenny Galloway. He previously studied at Birmingham Conservatoire with George Caird, Jenni Phillips & Richard Weigall. Orchestral engagements include London Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Hallé Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra & Kaleidoscope Orchestra amongst others. In 2022 he represented the United Kingdom in the G20 Orchestra’s inaugural performance at the Borobudur Temple in Indonesia.
Whilst studying he was accepted onto schemes with both the Hallé Orchestra and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra where he also performed as Principal Oboe with the CBSO Youth Orchestra & Academy. Throughout his studies Josh participated in a number of masterclasses with international artists including Francois Leleux, Jonathan Kelly & Nicholas Daniel. He has also attended masterclasses in Klausen, Italy with Nick Deutsch & David Walter and Thessaloniki, Greece with Alexei Ogrintchouk.
As a soloist, Josh has performed Strauss’s Oboe Concerto with the Wirral Symphony Orchestra, Finzi’s Interlude for Oboe & Strings as part of the Fondazione Cantiere in Montepuliciano with the RNCM String Orchestra and Albinoni’s Oboe Concerto No.2 with the St Cecilia Orchestra.
Alongside performing Josh has a real passion for teaching and is currently the oboe teacher at Sheffield Music Academy. He currently holds the role of Artistic Director for the Lasham Music Festival in Hampshire which he founded in 2015. In his spare time Josh enjoys walking around National Trust gardens, preferably with a warm beverage, and is a long suffering supporter of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.
