Elizabeth is an independent PR practitioner specialising in education and a Chartered Institute for Public Relations Chartered Practitioner. Her clients include The Open College of the Arts, a higher education charity offering degrees in creative arts subjects through open learning; the National Extension College, which offers GCSEs, IGCSEs, A levels and diplomas for adults and young people; and creative learning consultancy CapeUK, the Arts Council’s ‘bridge organisation’ for Yorkshire and the Humber. Elizabeth graduated with an honours degree from University College London and went on to study for a PGCE at the UCL Institute of Education.
A member of the team which launched the learndirect e-learning network in 1999, she became Head of Communications for learndirect in 2002, responsible for press, PR and public affairs nationally. In 2009, Sheffield Theatres appointed her as its first learning director, and she spent a year there as part of the senior management team in the run-up to the re-opening of the Crucible Theatre following a £15.3 million redevelopment.
Elizabeth is Chair of Governors at Handsworth Grange Community Sports College and a governor at Hunters Bar Junior School. She has sung in choirs throughout her life, and attributes her love of classical music to solitary visits to the City Hall to listen to the Hallé orchestra as a teenager and inspirational teachers at the schools she attended in Sheffield. She lives in Brincliffe with her husband and daughter, who is studying voice and cello at the Academy.
